ePayments

TAS ePayments helps you connect TAS BOOKS 2, TAS BOOKS 3 and TAS Payroll software to your bank's Internet or PC banking software. This removes the need to manually re-enter information into your banking and accounts or payroll software.

What's the difference between Internet banking and PC banking?
The majority of banks offer a range of electronic banking solutions that can be divided into two groups: Internet banking and PC banking.

Internet banking
Internet banking is aimed at providing information for personal bank accounts, sole traders or Small Office Home Office (SOHO) businesses with limited electronic banking needs.  Typically, you access your personal bank account details on your bank's Internet banking website. The features available normally allow you to:

  • view your bank balance and statement
  • make pre-defined bill payments
  • initiate bank transfers
  • The service is secured through user name and password, and all activity between your browser and the bank’s web servers is encrypted.

PC banking
For business customers, most of the major banks in the UK provide PC software. When installed on your computer, this software enables you to dial (via a modem) directly to the bank's private and secure network to access your own bank account details.

Most of these applications allow you to:

  • make single or batched payment instructions
  • set-up and modify direct debit instructions
  • make international payments
  • undertake bank transfers as appropriate
  • They also allow you to download balance information for reconciliation purposes.

How does the TAS ePayments plug-in work?
TAS creates a plug-in software module that acts as 'middleware' between your TAS BOOKS program and the bank's software.  This plug-in:

  • Converts information between the software into a format that both can understand
  • Integrates into your TAS software
  • Interfaces directly with the relevant bank's Internet or PC banking software

With ePayments you can:

  • Control cash flow. When you initiate an automatic ePayment, you know precisely which day it will be cleared from your account. You then know what funds need to be in your account on that day to fund the payment
  • Pay accurately every time, and no re-keying of payments is necessary at all
  • Make faster payments. No need to write out cheques and post them: BACS payments are cleared in three days
  • Save money. Processing payments electronically is nearly always cheaper than the cheque method
  • Be secure. No need to have cash on premises, no lost or stolen cheques. Payments are cleared straight into your payee bank accounts at exactly the same time as the funds are drawn from yours with full traceability
