Soft Year Technology
The period or year-end is a tough enough time without the rigidity of an accounting software solution imposing additional, artificial restraints. While many accounting software products do not enable users to review the intricacies of a previous year's transactions once year end has been completed, TAS Software products have Soft Year technology, using date driven transactions to provide complete flexibility.
Soft Year technology enables ledgers to be opened with their own date, so the purchase ledger can be in one month with the sales ledger in the next, even if this spans a period or year-end. When the user decides they require the year-end figures, they perform the year-end process and the relevant reports are prepared.
However, TAS Software's Soft Year technology allows closed years to be rolled back, for example if a purchase invoice arrives late. As all transactions are date based, the new invoice can be added into the previous year's ledger and this unique 'SoftClose' feature enables the user to recalculate all the year-end reports and accruals. This feature also enables audit information to be added back into the previous year, ensuring that the company's accounts are always entirely accurate.
So impressed are the magazines, accountants and institutions, that TAS has won more than 24 awards, recommendations and accreditations, including the last two years' running Accountancy Age ‘Software of the Year’ Award.
TAS Books was also the first entry-level accounting system to be awarded the formal recommendation by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (the ICAEW), TAS was the first entry-level system to receive the European BASDA /Ernst & Young EMU accreditation. And it was the first ever system to receive the BASDA/ HM Customs and Excise VAT Accreditation plus an additional 21 industry and magazine awards.
